How does the full-truck discount work?
The more bales travel in one delivery, the lower the cost per bale. A full truck gives you the lowest price per bale we offer. Because it depends on your region, the hay you choose and the size of the load, we send you a personal quote with your exact price per bale.
Portuguese or French hay: what is the difference?
Our Portuguese hay is honest, local everyday forage at our best price, a good fit for leisure horses, herds and field feeding. For sport horses, horses on a low-sugar diet or sensitive airways we usually recommend our French hay. Not sure? Tell us about your horses and we’ll advise.
Small, big or round bales?
Small bales of ≈ 17 to 20 kg are easy to handle by hand. Round bales of ≈ 200 kg and big bales of ≈ 250 kg work out cheaper per kilo and suit groups, field feeding and larger yards, but need a tractor or loader. Big and round bales start at a minimum of 4.
What is the minimum order?
Portuguese small bales start at 9 or 10 bales, big and round bales at 4. The minimum order value is €150, and you can combine hay with straw, shavings or feed to reach it.
How much hay does my horse need?
As a rule of thumb a horse eats about 1.5 to 2 kg of forage per 100 kg of body weight per day, depending on grazing, work and condition. Try our feeding calculator or ask us for a practical estimate.
Is delivery included in the price?
Delivery is calculated separately, based on where your stable is. Your quote shows both, so you know the full cost before you decide.
Do I need a forklift or tractor?
For pallets of small bales a pallet truck or tractor on site helps. For round bales, big bales and full trucks an unloader (tractor, telehandler or forklift) is essential. Not sure? Ask us and we’ll plan it with you.
